Andy is an independent consultant and a Director of A&G Jefferson Limited, the consultancy he jointly set up in 2012. Within the aviation sector he promotes sustainable development and assists companies in tackling environmental issues. Beyond aviation he increasingly supports organisations develop innovative ideas and technology solutions to deliver on environmental and sustainability issues. Increasingly this focusses on joining up opportunities between organisations to accelerate progress to a resilient and sustainable future.
For 13 years he supported Sustainable Aviation (UK) to drive and deliver their work programme, giving them their independent voice. For most of this time he oversaw the running of the Sustainable Aviation (UK) coalition, which covers over 40 companies across the aviation community, including the likes of Airbus, Boeing, Rolls-Royce, British Airways, easyJet, Virgin Atlantic, NATS, all the major UK airports plus sustainable fuel and zero emission aircraft innovators. His work at SA included directing all aspects the work programme, making the first global aviation coalition 2050 net zero emission commitment; championing the progress of sustainability across the UK aviation industry with governments and stakeholders; and quadrupling its membership. In handing over the baton in 2025, Andy is excited to share his experience and help the wider transport industry, within and beyond the UK, deliver on the ever growing sustainability challenges.
Prior to this Andy spent over twenty years’ working for both the Airport and Airline sectors, giving him great breadth in understanding the complexities of the industry. His roles concluded with him heading up the sustainability and planning team at Stansted Airport, having previously had a range of roles in airline operations, commercial development, and fleet planning.
Andy is passionate about building better links between academic research initiatives and industry to help accelerate the move towards a more sustainable future.
Gillian Jefferson B.Ed.

Gillian is an independent consultant and a Director of A&G Jefferson Limited, the consultancy she jointly set up in 2012. She works with Sustainable Aviation supporting the Chairs, Vice Chairs and Programme Director, focussing on the coordination and delivery of the work programme, along with general administration and financial support, including providing budgetary overview and forecasting. Prior to setting up A&G Jefferson Limited and now assisting Sustainable Aviation, Gillian worked as a teacher and other roles in Education; worked in Regulatory Inspection for a Local Authority and Ofsted; and has had other roles in Administration and Retail. She has also been Vice-Chair and Chair of a Parish Council.
